Mark,
I would try to extract the old bolts and reuse the threaded mount plates
if at all possible. If you drill out the old bolts and use a New Nut
with bolt, it is going to be much more difficult to remove and reattach
the support. It will take a lot of penetrating oil, drilling out the
center of the bolts and a reliable "easy-out" but it can be done.
Otherwise, you can drill and have the holes re-tapped.
