After sitting idle for 6 months several of the injectors on my TR-6 PI were
dribbling
rather than spraying. Since rebuilt injectors are expensive and have to
come from the UK I called the previous owner for tips. His advice was to
use toothpaste (a mild abrasive)
to "lap in" injector valves.
I only had 'gel' toothpaste on hand so I decided to use Simichrome metal
polish instead.
It worked GREAT- all 6 injectors now fire nice cones of fuel. Just pull
out the spring loaded injector tip with a pair of small pliers, put some
abrasive
compound (use a MILD abrasive or polish) around the valve, close the valve
and rotate
the tip back and forth for a minute or two. Be careful to clean off the
abrasive
when you're done. I put some kerosene in each injector and blew it out with
compressed
air to clean things out before reinstallation.
