According to John Kipping on the island, it is not really necessary.   Yes,
harder seats are better when there is no lead to cusion the valve impact.
However, you really only have to have some lead about once a year as there
is substancial residual effect.

Even without any lead one should consider how much driving will be done.
Receeding valves are only one of many things that could go wrong, and one
of the least problamatic in terms of progression and effect.

Keep your valves addjusted, stayoff the redline and relax.
