Steve Chandler's concern about radiator core-mounted electric fans causing
leaks is justified.
I have a Kenlowe fan which has been on several cars and I fitted it in the
following ways.....
On a Scimitar GTE, I rigged the fan as a 'pusher' and put it in front of the
rad, using right-angled brackets mounted to pipe clamps fitted on a
convenient crossbar.
On a Volvo, I used Kenlowe's own plastic mounts and alloy rod brackets.
I would suggest that any fan which can be used as a 'pusher' could be
mounted on fabricated brackets. Units like the Clovafan could be fixed this
way, as could any production fan which could rigged to blow, rather than
suck, air through the radiator. If the fan is smaller than the core, I found
it best to place it towards the top of the core, biasing it towards the side
where the top hose stub is located.
Cheers, Dave Hill
