I guess it's all a matter of taste and/or preference. I happen to like the
look of the Vitesse AND the Herald (and the Mayflower). But I know that
the Vitesse design was not, er, universally accepted!
As for the whole four-headlight thing, I suppose one could blame it on
Virgil Exner and some of the other designers of American cars, oft
emulated in British designs that followed soon after. (And let's not even
talk about late 1950s and early 1960s Toyopets and Datsuns, ok?) :-)
