Listers, I thought I'd share with you the method I used to install the
front coil spring on the TR6.
-It involves having the springs compressed and attached with metal straps
(3) by a suspension shop.
Then it's just a matter of fitting the rubber cushions, inserting the
spring, tightening the ball joint, installing the shock temporarly (for
security, so the spring cant fly off) and cutting the metal straps:
KKploing! Kpling! Kploong! (sound of metal straps...). Never, ever insert
your fingers between the coils, I used large Wise-grips to put them in
place.
I realize it's a little un-orthodox, but very effective and fast. Any
suspension specialist has the equipment as they use it for MacPherson
systems. Cost: 30$ a pair. 50$ for 2 pairs.
