The more I work on my car the more I wonder about whether I REALLY want to
go through a frame-off restoration. Hate to have it off the road that long,
and enjoy working on the short projects that just last through the winter.
So, I have been through the suspension, clutch, ect. Next will be the
interior. I assume one tears out the old, cleans up all the rust, paints
and install new. Eventually same with engine compartment, trunk and then
body paint job.
What do you do with the frame? It seems the best thing to do is let it as
is. The grease/oil covering is as good as anything to prevent rust,
althouth it does not look good. If one does decide to clean it up.....how?
Steam clean, then blast or sand and paint? What about areas missed?
Any ideas from people who have been there done that would be helpful. Thanks!!
