First the MG and Spitfire question. Do you want to deal with or learn
about the independent rear in the Spit. Is one of the cars smogged? And
do either have rusty bods? I would go with a solid early car and
problably the Spit cause I like a frame under a car and for ease of
maintenance.
GT6 smoke question: Have you considered bad valve seals or guides. These
will smoke more at start up. A compression test will check good on
these.
