I'm on the 'junkyard list and Keith wheeler wrote about seeing a couple
of Spits in a junkyard over the weekend ( in California.)
I know nothing about the cars, no financial interest.....just remember
someone looking for a body after I had just gotten rid the tub I had.

Hugh,
The Spits I saw were at the all foreign "Ecology" yard in
Chula Vista. So-so to deal with. They are "put 'em in the
'yard for a couple weeks then crush 'em 'yard". The place is
insane: they charge prices like $4.95 and a core charge for
nearly *everything*. And they charge piece by piece, so if you
want a front upright, knock the tie rod end off or they'll charge
you for that. They also don't know much about cars. California.
That said, I've been able to get some real deals from them. Like,
after saying 20 times that all a lever shock does on a car is
be a shock, getting the bit for $5. And they usually have a single
price for (x) no matter what car it came off of. Same price for the
Alfa engines as for toyota.
One of these Spits is *rough*. No engine, no interior, but some
ok body panels. The other is complete, engine, bonnet...I've not
checked the floors however.
