Roger,
When I originally installed the 2.6 version of this engine I had the stock
bonnet, but did have to modify the intake manifold slightly (milled about
1/2 inch off the carb mounting area), to get it to fit, but no bulges or
scoops. My car looked bone stock, except for the wider tires (205/60-13),
and the small V6 emblem that I "borrowed" from a Buick V6 and mounted on
the back spoiler. Ooop's yeah, I added that too but I made that before I
did the engine transplant. Since then I have installed the 2.8 version,
but the height would not have changed. I do now have a GT6 bonnet, but
that was because some moron backed into my car when it was parked, and at
the time I found a good bonnet and kinda liked the bulge. The added
clearance doesn't hurt either - I made no changes to the frame or firewall,
(4sp version, 5speed is another story) and really the only changes were to
the tunnel area, which required fabricating one out of aluminum, (you can
make yours out of whatever, although I have often wondered if possibly one
from a TR6 might be made to fit) and cutting some of the floor area around
the tunnel, similar to what you would need to do if you were installing an
overdrive in a car originally without one.
