The side markers on all UK cars are red. On Triumphs like
mine they are dule function, dim red for marker lights,
and four times brighter red for stop.

At the front, the clear lamps are the marker lights, and
the amber are used only for indecators and hazards.
The ambers lights at the back are also only for idecators
or hazards.

When the lights are on normaly it is illegal for the amber
lights to show. Hence the clear side lamps up front, and
the dule filiment bulbs at the rear. I thinks some very old
cars fitted with indecators when they still used flip up
side indecators flashed there red lights, but it's not common.

So that maby what causes the difference, maybe you can't have
the clear side lights in the US.
