Chad,
When I rebuilt my ZS carbs I had a problem with the bypass valves
causing a very fast idle. Some of the valves are externally adjustable,
while on early models like my '70 TR6 you had to remove the valve, and
open it up to adjust the pressure on the inner spring.
I eventually closed off the valves by placing gasket material between
the by pass valve and the carb body. Although not an optimal solution,
it corrected my problem of a very fast idle. I was then easily able to
balnce the air flow between the two carbs using the old rubber hose
method.
