Bob,

I might be able to help you with finding the origin of your cars....

1> if there are small angle brackets on the trailing edges of the front
suspension turrets

2> if your upholstery has a diamond pattern or basket weave pattern, and
is a reasonable approximation to leather grain

3> if your door armrests/pulls are in the same colour as your upholstery

Then your car is English assembled.

(besides which, the electric fans are a dead giveaway!!)

The reason I asked about the elec.fans was that 's' cars assembled here
had them which seemed stupid as cars would rarely (I mean never) reach
the temps that would cause the fans to operate, the fans being an idea
to cool idling in hot australian places. I had heard that the 's's were
assembled for both markets in NZ, which I really don't believe. I am a
curious boy! I am thinking about using the fan as the sole cooling
element on my PI estate that I am building.

Rear doors off tomorrow for rust assassination!!

Bye

1973 2000 Estate (soon to be PI plus extra goodies)
1976 2500 TC
1978 2500 S (wrecking)

PS - could you send me a description of the craopets and upholstery used
in your son's S, and also could you please check if there is a number
stencilled on the panel above the radiator (RH side).

These could help me figure if the story about twin-market assembly is
true! (Thanks in advance)
