I had a set of original ones on my 53 MGTD. Really liked them. The good
thing about the TD though, was that the 'real' windscreen folded down, and
could be folded up when necessary (even when driving, but that's another
story). Thus, the original wipers could be retained - not that they ever
worked, or ever had capacity to clear any water.
Never had a problem with the police, and I loved the sensation of going 70
when the speedometer said 35 - it was a 53 TD, after all. Oh, yes, any
hat needs to be secured well, or your brakes need to work well, and you
need to learn how to dodge traffic to retrieve your hat.
Reproductions are now being made of the Brooklands screens, but old
ones are still available once in a while at flea markets. I'm trying to
figure out how to make them work on my TR6, but haven't figured out how to
fold down the windshield, or attach the hood (top) to them :-)
