Joe, et al,
I installed an O2 sensor and one of those LED bar graph gauges on my
Spit autocrosser, back when I was trying to get the DCOEs dialed in. The
single wire O2 sensor, mounted just behind the header collector cost me
about $20. The gauge, from JC Whitney cost me about $30 (sadly, they no
longer carry this Cyberdyne unit). It proved to be a valuable tool
because it provides continuous readings as you're going down the road,
under load. My gauge is still in place as a "system monitor". It's not a
diagnostic tool for everyone. If you're running the stock SUs or
Strombergs, you can get along quite nicely without one.
If you don't feel you need one, you probably don't.
