You should try to place the jack stands under the frame roughly at the same
points where the wheels support the frame. If the stands spaced more the
wheel base the frame and body will sag. If the stands are spaced less than
the wheel base the car will bow upward in the middle. With convertibles the
rigidity of the car is almost entirely in the frame. With a hardtop, the
roof and frame from a box. Hardtops are much less susceptible to body
flex. Your shop manual should recommend support points.
