Its me again.
I used to use a product called Galva Froid, it was basically a thick zinc
rich paint (very thick - although it was always bloody cold in our workshop
and subsequently all paints ended up fairly thick!)
I used it to paint onto galvanised ducting pipes that we welded brackets
and the like to. I always brushed it onto the metal, it never left a very
good finish, but it seemed quite effective at keeping rust at bay. It
would probably do a grand job on the underside of a car although I would
still want to underseal over the top. One big draw back is that I seem to
remember it was VERY expensive.
