Gasket Material for Figure Eight Gaskets on TR4 engine

I'm at the point where I need to buy the correct gasket material for
sealing the wet
liners to the block with new figure eight gaskets.  The shop manuals refer
to trade
names which were popular thirty years ago.  I went to the typical
franchised auto store
and theres only a hundred to choose from. There's half a dozen types of
Permatex,
Locktite etc. .

Suggestion from the list would be greatly appreciated.  TIA.
