My mechanic says my steering rack is sloppy; it's not the tie-rods or
tie rod ends. He says it's the "bushings". He wants to pull the rack
and have a machinist make new bronze bushings for it. The bushings
would be around $30 (US) and the labor around 3 hours.
TRF sells a rebuilt rack for $229 (1976 glovrbox companion) including
a $100 core charge. The racjk includes everything from tie rod end to
tie rod end.
What do you think?
