It's not a wire --- it's a capillary tube. I don't think it's meant to be removed. Except for the gas gauge and ammeter the gagues are mechanical. I don't think they are adjustable like an electrical gauge -- ie: a trim pot inside... I'm sure some TR3 owners on the list will be able to advise you....
