Art, What you say sounds correct. However, many if not all of the SU carbuerators and the fuel line fittings of the British cars I have worked on, do use Whitworth fasteners!!!! Anyone planning to work on their SU's, especially those with the threaded fastners on the fuel lines (as opposed to the press fit rubber fuel lines as used in the 1959 and later TRs), should have at least the four following sizes; 1/4W, 5/16W, 3/8W, and 7/16W. These were available from Sears in the past but are probably now available only from the speciality tool suppliers; i.e., Snap-On, etc. Jim Bauder Palo Alto, CA '58 TR3 in boxes |
