There is a product called "Rust Mort" available at Canadian Tire (Canada,
of course) and many body shop supply houses. It turns the surface black
when fully cured, must be similar to other products mentionned.
My TR4a, which sat outside more or less unprotected with no top and
interior( please do not report me to the SPCTRA - Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to TR's of America) for 6 years showed that where I
had used this stuff, no further rust advanced. I recommens it and other
products like it.
There is also a red primer paint available called "Rust Destroyer" which
is pattented. They claim if applied according top directions it will stop
EXISTING rust from spreading for 5 years! A fellow club member turned me
on to this stuff - he swears by it. I am giving it the "acid test" by
dealing wit hrecurring rust spots on my GTI "winter beater/parts hauler".
BMW, here in Winnipeg, is often referred to as "Bless My Warranty". One
dealer, $75/hour plus parts and labour, parts more $$$ than the Porsche
dealer down the street! And, in our climate, Beemers (or Bimmers, pick
your choose) DO need work. A brake job on a 735 - on 2 year lease - of a
friend was $1200!!!!! Huh?
I have been amused at the TR acronyms, many referring to their
"unreliability" Has anyone considered the "unreliability" of getting
correct parts considering all the DPO's and catalogue misprints?
