Only problem with using magnesium in such form is that sheet magnesium
is relatively unavailable, except at horrendous cost. Because magnesium
burns so easily, special casting techniques are required to make
billets. And, naturally, they can't be hot-rolled because... they catch
on fire. <g> It's also not at all ductile (part of the trade-off of high
strength is brittleness), so it fractures very easily during almost any
cold-forming process. 

Stainless steel would be, however, an attractive option. Not all shops,
though, want to bend stainless--the chrome in it makes it fairly hard on
dies.
