The center section was black crinkle paint... all the rest, including the
cubby box cover, was covered with vinyl material that matched the upholstery
in color.
You can get crinkle paint from the Eastwood Catalog (I think they have been
taken over by Sears now- does anyone know the scoup on that issue?) It's
really neat to work with... spray it on, and when your wife's not looking ,
pop it the the oven for a few minutes... and like magic, it ends up with the
nicest texture that you can imagine... like a Ferrari valve cover! Save the
can and use it on your heater when you get around to restore it. Then throw
it out before you get carried away.
