depends on whether the car's distributor and ignition system are ok,  if 
you have a car with a distributor that occasionally misses  the #1 cyl. 
due to the rotor/cap going out, it isn't always a good indication.  at 
least on my (ahem) american iron,  might be wrong, any other 
opinions?????
