Tom,
I did not make the parts myself but a German company offers a conversion set
for TR3 - TR6. There are no modifications made on the bell housing but they
modify the gear lever to keep the original position.
These are the main modifications:
- new rear engine plate
- move the starter to the driver’s side
- move clutch slave cylinder to the passenger’s side
- modification on the intermediate exhaust pipes
- tranny mountings
I paid app. 2.500,- D-Marks ( USD 1.430,-) for all parts (except starter).
The 5-speed box was used for Rover 6’s and V8’s, for the Stag and for the TR8
(I
think also for the late TR7 5-speed, but I’m not sure!)
I am going to check whether this company still exists and will come back to the
list with more details.
