With apologies for straying too far from the subject of LBCs! That "swimming
pool corner" is what's known as a "limbo." There are no corners or seams, so
an object placed in there seems to be suspended in space, or "in limbo" with
no visible means of support. Usually, the limbo is painted either white or
black, so it is easy for the photography lab to seperate the object from the
background so it can be pasted into another background for commercial ads,
etc. I have a small one-dimensional limbo in my studio, but I can't shoot
anything larger than a bicycle.

$20 is a very good price for this type of photography. $200 would be more the
norm. An automobile (LBC, of course!) is probably one of the most difficult
items to photograph, either in or out of the studio. There are so many
reflective surfaces and angles involved, that is is very difficult to light
evenly, without deep shadows and bright "hotspots." The photographer did a
good job.
