I just got back in town and had a couple of minutes so I decided to write

We arrived on Thursday, to find a few TR's had arrived already but the
lions share had not. Pulling into Harrah's parking lot, we were greeted
with kaos. A couple of small signs pointed us around back. The host club
(HDCTR?) Had a small area set up with greeters and a way to check into
the Hotel.
After getting our room we found it was exactly the opposite of what we
requested. Smoking, one bed as apposed to non-smoking, two beds. (we
originally were bringing our two daughters) After talking to the "big
cheese" and the Harrah's employee in charge of checking all of us in, we
were given a better room. Nice, actually.
We were not given a list of ativities for the weekend so we spent most of
Thursday, trying to figure out what the He** we were supposed to do.
Friday was not much better, with most of the small activities cancelled.
Saturday, smoked. Up at 6:00 to a slight chance of rain I went over to
the car and along with 30 or 40 other idiots broke out the polish and
window cleaner. At this time, I met the "other" Herald owner. Yes, there
were TWO Heralds at this event. I can go to the local British Car meets
and see two or three. I was disapointed.
The other Herald owner, Chris, was not on the list but was wonderful
company, none the less. He is from over the pond and aquired his Salloon
from his neighbor when he arrived in the states. I won't tell the price,
but let's just say he wasn't ripped off.
The funcourse started at 8:00, and went to 11:00. We went to breakfast.
Back by 10:00 we talked to Chris and his wife conning them into
participating in the ralley. Which, by rumor was cancelled. But after
talking to "the big cheese" we found out it was just that, a rumor.
We did, however, have to talk to two other "volunteers" to find out where
and when the ralley was to take place.
The ralley started at noon, we were given a couple sheets of instructions
and off we went. It took us to the three states in the area and was
really a lot of fun. Of course, we got lost and our time and mileage was
about double the winning time. :-)
There was a triathalon but we never did find out where or when so didn't
participate.
The awards dinner Saturday night didn't excape the "disorganization" bug.
We had two schedules, one saying it started at 5:30, the other 6:00. We
opted for the 6. Bad decision, by that time we were hard pressed to find
a seat for ourselves, let alone the five of us. (Including, Chris, his
wife and son) So we split up and settled for different tables. About 10
minutes later, as scores of people continued to poor in they announced
that anyone without a yellow dinner ticket was to give up their seat.
No one moved, so they brought in more tables.
Both Heralds won a silver. And those other cars won something too.
We left early Sunday for Disneyland with the kids.
It was almost as fun.

Greeting to the list,
I also just got back from Triumphfest, have a friend in Cali, and flew out
there and drove to Nevada with a group from the Southern California Triumph
Owners Association. They are a great group of people, made me feel right at
home with them.
Arrived on Thursday also, got checked in and unloaded the TR, met more
westcoast TR people and was getting ready for what would turn out to be a
great weekend.
So, it was a little unorganized, hey it's October, it's 70 - 80 degrees, (In
New Jersey the leaves are changing) and I've already met some great people
and have seen the more TR4, 4A's and 250's than at any event on the East
coast or Midwest!
A simple question to the right people had us able to find and participate in
every event, and we did finish first in the Pentathlon! The "funcours" was
really as great idea also, it encourages everyone to participate, regard of
the condition of their car. The only thing that was a little disappointing
was the fact that hotel / casino was full of non-TR people so we were kind of
spread thin. But all in all it was a great event.
