At the front of the Haynes manual is a listing of specs for all three Spitfire engines. Check out the valve timing on the 1300 vs.1500. It appears to be the same overall timing on the cam but quite different timing installed leading me to believe the crank keyway location is different. Could that be where some of the HP went?
