Fellow scions:
I'm asking this question about the post seals because I didn't receive any
replies. I am fitting a post seal to my 1970 GT6+ and all the original seals
are gone thanks to a DPO. My question is this. The post seal I received from
VB is about 1/2" wider than the post and hangs out into the door opening. It
seems obvious that this needs to be trimmed. The question is, how much? Does
the fuzzt seal go over the post seal (flat section) or is the post seal
trimmed back far enough so that the fuzzy seal only goes over the metal
flange. I have some pictures of original GT6+ seals but the resolution isn't
good enuogh to see that kind of detail. Does anyone know the correct
approach?
Second question; How difficult is it to replace the retainer seal between the
top of the windshield and the roof ofthe car? Obviously the front of the
headliner must be removed, which appears to be retained by the windscreen
seal. The diagram in the VB catalog shows some bolts at the top of the
windscreen. Has anyone attempted this replacement? Mine is very dried out and
ragged along the edge. I have read that the front edge of the roof is prone
to rusting out so I thought that I'd better replace this while I'm replacing
the other seals.
Any help or advice on these two topics would be greatly appreciated.
