Tom, your idea for 1981 being the cutoff is outstanding! Ever run for office? Just kidding. I have researched to see if California started converters in 73 or 74. That was not the case. They started in 1975 along with unleaded fuel and smog pumps. I'm taking my cars back to the UK in January, so then I'll have to deal with MOT. Sorry Trevor for any miscommunication.
