Mark, I've seen flat plates added between the carb(s) and the exhaust
manifold to shield the carbs from the heat. The owner stated that vapor
lock was a problem for him on hot days and the shield cured it. He was
running with twin SUs but I've also seen shields on Zenith Strombergs.
