Drew,

I agree with George. 

FWIW, I had to source a stator tube, as my TR3B came without one. A
couple of people said I can make one out of tubing. Steel gas line was
real close to the right OD, but the wall was pretty thick. I was
concerned the wiring harness would not go thru the tubing. 

I finally found a stator tube at the Carlisle, PA swap meet. The vendor
had several tubes with control heads and harnesses, all for
non-adjustable columns. I have an adjustable column, and found the tubes
were the same length, only the slot that engages the control head was
longer in the adjustable column stator tube.

Also, fishing the harness down the stator tube is alot easier than it
seems. I stuffed the harness in until it got stuck, then tapped the tube
sharply with a wrench in the area the end was stuck in. This would
loosen the wires a bit, allowing me to stuff another inch or more of
wires in. Another couple of raps and then stuff again. Repeat as needed.
I got the harness through pretty quickly.
