Thanks to all who advised me on the jumper over the steering column joint -
sure enough, there was none. What a tough spot to turn a wrench in...
I replaced the cylinder on my 72 Spit rear brake due to leaking, but when I
tried to bleed the opposite side, I succeeded only in rounding off the bleeder
screw. The screw on the old cylinder is similarly rusted. Is it possible to
buy just the valve, rather than the whole unit? I was thinking of buying a
rebuild kit for the replaced cylinder, and a new bleed valve, and just
swapping the two. In the various catalogs, I see the bleed valve sold
separately for the front, but not the rear. Are they interchangable?
Am I correct in assuming the master cylinder reservoir is actually two
separate containers? There is a dividing wall that creates a large and small
compartment, and only the small one dropped when I bled the new back brake.
How critical is it to bleed both sides if one side of the front or back is
opened, as I have done.
Thanks to all
Joe
