It turns out the hood squeak I wrote about recently was caused almost entirely by the spring and peg fixture that provides center support for the hood. A shiny spot on the bottom of the peg indicated where it had been rubbing the spring frame. Removed it, straightened the trapezoidal slant the spring frame had taken, greased it liberally and mounted it so the peg was directly below the slot in the hood. This seems to have solved the problem. We'll see how long it holds up. John Cowan |
