All;
I just got back from getting the Spitfire inspected and it passed !!!!
I had gotten a temporary permit and taken the car to the local school
shop to dial in the emissions. Turns out I was already passing ! This
is the same car I could not get to pass last year and parked in
frustration. Since then I replaced the fuel pump and re-wired almost
the entire dash. Got a big kick out of the mechanic trying to start it
at the shop... it has no key and uses a toggle and pushbutton to start ,
also the wipers are a toggle as well as the electric fan. I had not
gotten around to labeling these ... so some education was needed.
I have a theory now why it would not pass last year that maybe the group
can validate. When I removed the old mechanical pump it had a bad
diaphram. Could this have caused low fule pressure and thus made
setting mixture impossible ? Also I wonder if maybe some fuel got into
the gas and also messed up the emissions.
One last simple questions, I do have one eletrical gremlin, the
left turn signal will sometimes not work, it will always work if you
press on the brakes.... short ? Have to check it tonight
