I am restoring a 1970 TR6 and I am trying to keep it as accurate as
possible. The goal is to drive the car and not show it as I do not have the
patience to sit around for more than 5 minutes before I need to do
something. The first decision I have to make that may compromise my plans
for accuracy is the exhaust system.
The 70 has a single pipe exhaust and I have a 72 exhaust manifold from a
parts car that I purchased with the dual pipe set up.
Is it worth using the dual pipe set up over originality? Is the increase in
horsepower meaningful? Naturally I can always save the single pipe set up
if I ever decide to show or sell the car. I know I can use a "period"
header system and solve the whole problem but I did not want to spend the
money at this time.
