Dave Fain inquires about wiper mountings on Spitfires & GT6. My own "68 Mk 1
GT6 (KC8330) has the wipers pointing to the left side when parked. The '72
Mk 3 I once owned was the opposite. I noticed the Mk 1's soon after I bought
it since very few other cars I have seen in the US are this way (some Beetles
come to mind).
If you notice the area of the windshield wiped, it would seem that a
left-hand drive car would use the later arrangement to be most efficient.
This makes it logical that an early GT6 or Spitfire would be set up for
right-hand driver position for one (home) market and only later would Triumph
correct the problem for the rest of us. I wonder if the later cars were
available each way depending on market?
Maybe the change was made when the deeper windshield was introduced?
