I've had my rebuilt TR4 motor for several months and have only run it in
place while hydraulics and other pursuits in the interest of restoration
continue. I tried to start it this weekend and it would not turn over, but
the starter was trying. Thinking the battery may be weak, I decided to
remove the plugs and see if it would turn that way. Pulled #4, #3 plugs and
they looked like that I had previously suspected, mixture too rich. Pulled
#1 and it had antifreeze on it, and so did #2. When I hit the starter, I
shot water about 30 feet from #2. So the rebuild (I had done) did not set
the liners and figure 8 gaskets correctly I figure. They've got to come
pick it up and of course, they were closed yesterday when I called.
Question is, what else should I make sure they look at since I'm assuming I
may have rusted liners/piston in #1 and 2, water in sump, etc. Anyone had
such a problem and can provide some guidance.
If any of you are old enough and remember the 2 step dance, this is
definitely one back!
