my local volvo dealer sells new j-type overdrives. the casting is the same as
a triumph one, but the triumph mounting holes are not drilled or tapped.
volvos don't mount the overdrive as such but hang the gearbox from the top
somehow. (the details were a bit hard to see crawling under a friends car).
of course the dealer doesn't sell the shorter triumph mainshaft etc.
this seems like a good way to replace an existing overdrive but not the best
place to start a conversion.
