The mechanic wasn't a certain SOB named Chris C. from Colorado
Springs who now resides in California, was he?

It is located on a flat horizontal surface a couple of inches
above the filler plug on the right side near the front. Any
box with a KC prefix is out of a MkI or Plus but a later box
will fit OK as long as it's out of a GT6. A Spitfire box will
not work as the input shafts are different. A KE prefix would
indicate a GT6 Mk3 gearbox. Dunno about KF.
