Hi,
Crank, cam, carbs... all systems GO!
After spending literally all of my non-work, non sleeping hours working
on my TR6 for the last two weeks, I can say that all is working quite
well now. I have some "detail work" to do, but I took the car out for a
spin last night (about 40 mile roundtrip) and it works great.
I did discover that if the timing is advanced by 20 degrees or more that
you can get some AMAZING flamage out of the carburators when you tromp on
the gas! A few minutes with a timing light on the car was all that we
needed to nail down one serious problem.
One of the "details" that I need to do is fabricate a vacuum inlet on the
intake manifold for the crankcase. Turns out that if you block the valve
cover vent hole, you'll blow oil out of every concievable mating surface
on the engine! While I'm in there, I'll try to retro-fit a PCV valve.
When I'm done, maybe my car will burn cleaner than stock!
I'll go out on a limb here: so far the car doesn't leak a drop! This is
quite amazing to me. Oh, and I checked - there is oil and'or grease in
the various sump and gearbox reservoirs. Hmmmmm. I'll have to use my oil
can to squirt oil over the bottom of the car now.
bye,
rml
