I just finished rebuilding the Strombergs on my '73 TR6 and when I
started it up, it idled at about 2,500 rpm. The idle speed screws are
all the way out and the chokes are off. It was a basket case when I
brought it home last year, so I don't know if they were working before.
I did follow the manual and I have a book on Carb Repair...but I have been
known to put things back together upside down anyway :-0
Any ideas of what I might be overlooking? I did notice that the jets are
a good 2.5mm below the level of the bridge. This doesn't look normal,
but I have nothing to compare it with. The butterflies seem to close all
the way, but I didn't check them too closely, since I didn't replace
them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, because with a rusty Monza
exhaust, my neighbors are not appreciating me blasting through the
neighborhood, rattling windows!
