Fellow Triumphant Ones:
The latest edition of TRaction arrived here in New Mexico yesterday and
motivated me to write a blatant promotional missive to you all. Let me first
say that I belong to the TRA, and the VTR . I have been a member of up to
seven Triumph clubs and appreciate the work done by all those volunteer
fellow club members and do not offer my comments to insult or demean their
work or devotion to the marque.
If you do not belong to the Triumph Register you are missing out on one of
the most informative and interesting Triumph publications available today.
No, it is not directed at the early cars only. TR6's and 7's are very well
represented.
Here's a rundown on some contents of the May 97 issue:
Full color cover shows a TR 7V8 in full battle dress. in action at the
Goodwood racetrack in 1995.
P 9. Description and color photo of the TR7V8 sponsored by the TR Register
at LeMans in 1980. The last try for Triumph. Car reported massive
vibrations at 170 MPH on the Mulsanne straight and one handed steering in the
Tertre Rouge! With repairs in progress the car was eliminated by the infamous
LeMans politics, but would have been competitive.
P 12. Registrars' Reports for each TR. Always some discussion of
originality issues by model, including paint codes, special factory
accessories, sequence of numbering, unusual and historic cars found, etc.
P 17. Detailed article by Pete Cox on removal and repair of the A-Type
Overdrive. Over 20 illustrations and six pages of detailed text.
P28. Club member's story about a 1959 trip from Capetown to Cairo in a
TR3A. Incredible color photos of the trip!
P34 Announcement and review of a new book on Triumphs just published.
P40 Club members photos, TR 4's, 6's , 7's, lovely color phots.
P44. Part 3. Anything but a ....... continuing story about corporate
Truimph and developments. Marvelous aerial photo of factory at Speke in 1967
and details of labor issues which eventually destroyed the company.
