SOL wrenchers,

I am about ready to finish the bottom end of my TR3 engine. I am confused
about just how to shellac the felts which seal the sides of the front and
rear main bearing caps.

Just how wet do the felts have to be prior to tamping them into place? The
gasket shellac (Indian Head brand) is pretty thick; what is the best was to
apply it to the felts? I suspect the felts need to be pretty saturated to
be effective, but I am not sure if they should be soaked or just "painted."

Do anyone have any guidance in this area?

Thanks.
