I stand corrected. I looked at my faced comm. plate and see the same thing.

Gentlemen,
The comm. plate for my TR 250 also has the date of April 1,1968.
It has the commision number CD 4311 L. When I was compiling my list-
ing of the TR 250 owners on the list, I noticed a lot of cars were
"made" on this date. It would stand to reason that this can't be the
case, I don't know for a fact, since I haven't sent away for my car's
BMH certificate yet, which would have the build date on it. But closer
inspection of the comm plate shows that it reads "This vehicle complies
with all U.S. federal safety standards applicable on Apl 1, 1968"
This does not definately state that the car was made then. I've always
considered Triumphs implying such as some sort of dry April Fools Day
joke...
