In my initial reply, I neglected to mention the following. You should
make sure that the wheel cylinders are free to slide back and forth on
the backing plate. If they do not slide freely or at all, this will
affect the stopping ability of the rear brakes, as well as the function
of the handbrake.
If necessary, you may need to clean up this area and use a little white
lithium grease to help the cylinders slide.
