I have been using a waterproof tarp over the tech cover for many years
now with no trouble at all. Not only does it keep the car drier, but it
keeps out all the dirt that works its way thru the tech cover and
deposits itself on the car. Also prolongs the life of the tech cover.
I get a new tarp every year to keep it as waterproof as possible,
usually a silver one from Northern Hydraulics for about $16. The high
reflectivity keeps the car cooler.
Don't know why it didn't work with the VW.

< Carl, what ever you do don't put a tarp over or under the
< tech. #3 this will cause a lot of sweating and close off the air
< breathing of the tech #3 which can cause sun spot bleeding.Tried that,
< Did That, lost a very good paint job on a V/W Karman Ghia conv.
