any "pointers" on electronic ignition ?

Happy Spring!

I recently picked up a '74 tr6 with a newly rebuilt engine - it runs
great but has rough starts.  I'm having it tuned up and at my mechanic's
advice, an electronic ignition is being installed.  Are there any
noticeable performance differences ( mileage, power, etc ) that I might
expect (over points)?  The catalogues make claims.....but.... :)
