Subject: | TR-3 - Response to disk brake advice |

Thanks to all who sent advice. Some info: 1. Most wrote in support of DOT5 silicone brake fluid. 2. Many suggested I check for constricted brake hoses. I will, but they were put on just last year during a partial brake overhaul. 3. Others also suggested checking brake master cylinder adjustment. Will do, although the problem doesn't show up on the rear/drum brakes - on the other hand, I think they have return springs. 4. Others questioned my mechanic's judgement. I trust him, even if his conjecture here is wrong, since I didn't pay him to take things apart and inspect. He suggested I take a complaint to the guy who did the original work, which I will. He also said that silicone was a controversial issue. 5. One respondent mentioned a check valve on Tr-3s and 4s. I'm not familiar with it and will follow up with him. So ...... Plenty of leads to follow up. Isn't that how it often is? John Cowan |
